I realize now, after reading through the corresponding BN-thread that my questions have been answered and that for the time being MrG's sites are back again. I've been pretty much out of the perfume-loop for some time now. It was just yesterday that I read about Shiseido buying the Lutens brand back - that's probably telling enough.
Nasenmann/neonoirAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164856430880181829.post-12062373554621165922016-03-03T08:35:17.235-08:002016-03-03T08:35:17.235-08:00All of the Monsieur Guerlain pages and sites are b...All of the Monsieur Guerlain pages and sites are back on-line now...alfaromhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14506169079189377529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164856430880181829.post-39888017193600268972016-03-02T08:29:07.704-08:002016-03-02T08:29:07.704-08:00I am willing to write to Guerlain too but before t...I am willing to write to Guerlain too but before that I would be interested in hearing the entire story from Mr Guerlain's point of view. Did this happen out of the blue for him or was there correspondence with Guerlain? Was he pressured to take his stuff offline himself or was it being taken offline by the hosters? I wrote to them also & thanks to Robert for providing the email address in those comments above. One can only hope they will reverse their decision (with an apology) given the seemingly non-sensical, unwarranted & fundamentally unkind, corporate overreach. Guerlain has always been my favorite house for so many years, sadly my respect for them and the parent company just fell to rock bottom. Especially after all the $$$$ my friends and I just dropped at the Beverly Hills Sak's Guerlain counter last weekend.....

Really bad move, and horrible PR. Why silence the voice of someone who has done nothing but cherish, adore, and respect the Guerlain brand.

I own close to 65 bottles of Guerlain, but won't be buying anymore until the company makes this right.

I can only imagine that this was a poor decision enacted by some MBA middle management pencil pusher, who really has no love for the many thousands of Guerlain perfume lovers!

Shameful. This is an action that is the anthesis of the Guerlain quality and standard.

What were you thinking....?

Kind Regards,

Robert B. Rather ironic, indeed, that Bond no.9 spent YEARS digging out of its mistake of listening too much to the corporate lawyers, and just when Bond seems to have finally put that sordid past behind itself, GUERLAIN, of all houses, makes the same mistake. Have they no realization of how the whispers of social media - both loving and snarky - are so much mightier than the lawyer's pen? Good grief - what skin is it off their powdered rumps if a lone fanboy uses the name "Monsieur Guerlain"? I just don't get it. Even if Guerlain were coming out with a scent by that very name (basically, the greatest imaginable "infringement"), what's the point? Why not leverage the idea that there actually "is" a guy by that nickname? Heck - make him sign papers if you have to, although I think that kills the very idea of having a legendary free-range marketer who defends the brand at every turn, which he really doesn't have to do. (Indeed, even if he snarked on Guerlain mercilessly, it's the bad press which IS good press, and they should love every second of it.)

Good grief, Guerlain. Your shot to your own foot has awakened even ME, from my sorry slumber. Can I loan the house some buckshot for the other foot, so the lawyers can double down on your new image as corporate meanies? Why don't you SUE your greatest fan? Seems like a plan!

Thierry - why do you put up with these people? Talk some sense into them! They're killing the brand!

PS - Hi people. I was hoping to return to fragrance under better circumstances. Soon. But this is worth bitching about now. I love the modern Guerlains. It's like they beat up a mainstream bro. Sad that Guerlain has forced the closure of the Monsieur Guerlain, a blog, that was loved by perfume collectors worldwide for informative posts about new releases, and historical reference for vintage Guerlain. In my view, Monsieur Guerlain was known and respected as THE person with the most comprehensive knowledge about all things Guerlain. Such a shame that LVMH doesn't seem to care about brand loyalty or it’s fans.

I have many Guerlains in my collection but haven't loved any of the new releases of the past five years. Perhaps it's time to move on?

In the end, this aggressive move by the company gives me all the more reason to purchase from Small indie perfumers and not from Guerlain. It's my thought I'm not missing much.Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04799815810869706346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164856430880181829.post-6621583374637962842016-02-07T09:05:50.451-08:002016-02-07T09:05:50.451-08:00The Monsieur Guerlain site was a loving tribute to...The Monsieur Guerlain site was a loving tribute to the brand. Whatever reason Guerlain/LVMH had, it is a sad day indeed when that carries more weight than the information and admiration that Monsieur Guerlain and his many fans offered through his site. melisand61https://www.blogger.com/profile/12802652658028346558noreply@blogger.com
